Help create Britain’s future rail network

· Influence the way the business measures, monitors and manages resources
· A real chance to shape commercial decision-making

· Deliver our long-term commitment of value for money

· Key role in a new team with business-wide influence

At Network Rail we’re making Britain’s rail network fit for the 21st century and beyond. As one of the country’s biggest energy users, it’s crucial that we look after our resources and the environment. It’s a huge responsibility, which is why we’ve created a new team tasked with managing resources and waste.

At the heart of it, you’ll be managing our database and survey team, as well as developing robust systems and processes to drive continuous improvements. You’ll need:

· Experience as a utilities buyer, or of managing large and complex utility systems

· An in-depth knowledge of installed systems management and control practices

· A proven ability to manage projects, people and budgets

· Strong communications skills and, ideally, an HND/HNC engineering qualification

This is an exciting long-term project with significant challenges, and potential. If you believe you have the commercial skills and abilities to be part of it, find out more and apply at networkrail.co.uk/careers searching under reference IRC433106.

Closing date: 25 July 2010.
