This is your chance to help keep the UK’s power flowing. In this vital and varied role, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining, modifying and repairing electrical equipment and systems across all the assets we use to transport gas. Which means you’ll play an important part in keeping the nation’s gas transmission network operating at full capacity. Working solo without direct supervision, you’ll carry out a wide range of activities - from asset health and fault reporting, through to supervising contractors. The performance of our systems affects the whole nation, so we’ll expect you to work in a timely way to the highest standards, and take part in a standby rota.

To join us, you’ll need relevant experience including the inspection, testing, fault finding and repair of electrical systems, and the provision of operational support. You’ll have a recognised electrical qualification and/or appropriate apprenticeship, plus 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Inspection & Testing BS7671, C&G 2391 and CompEx. A driven individual, you have excellent planning and organisational skills and plenty of initiative. You’ll come into contact with people from diverse internal and external areas, so it’s crucial that you’re a team player with great communication skills.

National Grid holds a vital position at the centre of the energy system. We join everything up. We’re the largest utility in the UK, running systems that deliver gas and electricity across the entire country, connecting people to the energy they use. We’re investing £40bn by 2020 in developing and renewing the UK’s energy infrastructure and leading the way on renewable energy. There’s never been a more interesting and exciting time to join National Grid.

In return for your dedication, you’ll benefit from our commitment to your ongoing personal and professional growth. In addition to excellent development opportunities, you’ll enjoy the advantages of an attractive package that includes an individual performance related bonus, defined contribution pension scheme and 25 days holiday. What’s more, our comprehensive flexible benefits scheme offers a range of lifestyle, health and protection benefits.
